Zhai Yao : Mechanical metamaterials are man-made structures which exhibit counterintuitive properties in conventional materials. These metamaterials originate in the geometry of their unit cell instead of the properties of each component. Many researchers focused on achieving unusual value for familiar mechanical parameters, Poisson's ratio, for example. What's more, researchers also study a new class of metamaterials, shape-morphing. These materials exhibit exotic functionalities, for instance, pattern and shape transformations in response to mechanical forces. However, these materials are mainly exposed to static load conditions in the researches. In our work, we will analyze the mechanical properties of the metamaterials in dynamic condition. The dynamic response of the unit cell of the structure will be discussed first. On the basis of the dynamic response of the unit cell, the dynamic behavior of the metamaterials structure in periodic external load will obtained by means of the finite element method. Then the relationship with pattern and shape transformations and the frequency of vibration force will be investigated. The result may provide guidance for exploring the vibration and dynamic performances in mechanical metamaterials.
