Structural crashworthiness is a very important topic in the various engineering protective fields. This study aimed to explore the energy absorption performance of a new type of structures with sustainable properties. The quasi-static and dynamic experiments were carried out on the structures. The energy dissipation mechanism, special energy absorption (SEA) and crush force efficiency (CFE) were analyzed and discussed. And the theoretical analysis was attempted to perform an analysis of the crushing response. This study clarified crashworthiness characteristics of the structures, and it is very promising to use it as an alternative energy absorber in the engineering fields.
