Abstract
Aiming at the limitations of traditional finite element method (FEM) in accuracy under mesh distortion and the issues of overly-soft system stiffness and numerical instability in node-based smoothed radial point interpolation method (NS-RPIM) during the thermomechanical coupled analysis of twist drills, this paper proposes a stabilized node-based smoothed radial point interpolation numerical simulation and analysis method. This method reconstructs the stiffness matrix by introducing a stabilization term related to the field variables and establishes the discretized system equations by combining the smoothed Galerkin weak form, thereby effectively improving the numerical stability and computational accuracy of NS-RPIM. By comparing the performance of SNS-RPIM, NS-RPIM, and FEM in terms of displacement, temperature, stress, and computational efficiency, the results show that the displacement, temperature, and stress errors of SNS-RPIM are 16.54%,15.07%, and 21.02% of those of NS-RPIM, respectively, and its computational efficiency is 1.15 times that of NS-RPIM. Furthermore, SNS-RPIM significantly mitigates the 'overly-soft' characteristic of NS-RPIM and demonstrates excellent robustness under various working conditions. This method provides a high-precision and high-efficiency numerical solution for the thermomechanical coupled analysis of cutting tools, holding significant value for engineering applications.
