The difficulty of the calculation of nearly singular integrals in the boundary integral equations has hindered the application of the boundary element method to the analysis of the temperature field in anisotropic coating-structures. The analytical integral formulations for the boundary integral equations in the anisotropic potential problem developed by the authors are introduced to analyze the temperature field in anisotropic coating-structures. Due to the analytical solutions are not available for different coating/substrate combinations, the temperature distribution in the coating-structures with the same medium in the coating and substrate is investigated to verify the accuracy of the present method. Then, it is used to evaluate the temperature field of the coating in the anisotropic coating-structures. The numerical examples demonstrate that the present method can model the temperature field in much thinner coating compared with the conventional boundary element method.
