Homogenization approach for representative laminate plate using Hsieh-Clough-Tocher element

Abstract


This paper presents a homogenization approach for laminate plate. The laminate theory is combined with homogenization methods in thin bending plate. Micro plate, made of cross-ply laminate materials with circle hole, is discretized by compatible plate element as Hsieh-Clough-Tocher element. The porosity has effects on elastic behavior of laminate plate. The homogenization is used to determine the effective material constant matrix of representative laminate plate element. The numerical example is micro laminate plate with circle hole and changing the porosity. The macro homogeneous plate is considered in static analysis under uniform loads. The results get good similarities when compared with analytic and other numerical methods
